DIY Makeup Remover for Sensitive Skin

If you’ve also grown up with sensitive skin, you may have noticed that makeup wipes are not always the kindest to skin, and sometimes even require more than one wipe. The wipes can irritate the skin, which will lead to breakouts, and wiping with too much aggression may puncture zits and lead to acne scars. Not only that, but they can leave your skin feeling dry and gross.

Using oil to remove makeup is much more effective, and much gentler than brand makeup wipes. Oils are attracted to other oils, similar to that our skin naturally produces as well as the oil used in makeup products. This is how it easily dissolves makeup, but also doesn’t cause any damage or irritation to the skin. If that wasn’t reason enough, it also helps to moisturize the skin for a dewy, healthy glow.

Materials

  • Carrier Oil
  • Clean Towel

Instructions

Dampen your face with warm water by pooling it in your hands and pressing it against your skin. Don’t apply too much pressure, as the makeup may get deeper into your pores. After you wet your face, take a quarter-size amount of carrier oil and rub it on your face the way you would with a cleanser. Use gently around the eye area--mascara and eyeliner will come off easy, but make sure you don’t get any of it in your eyes. Feel free to rinse and repeat if you feel the need to do so.

Need a carrier oil? Try our camellia oil for best results.

Once you’re satisfied, rinse the oil off with cold water to close your pores and keep them small. Voila! Clean skin with none of the irritation! Follow up with your skincare routine as usual.
